This guided tour explores queer and LGBTQIA+ themes through the life of Tove Jansson during the years when the Moomin books were created.

This guided tour explores queer and LGBTQIA+ themes through the life of Tove Jansson during the years when the Moomin books were created. The richness and versatility of Jansson’s expression are revealed in the stories of the Moomin books, her illustrations, and the letters she wrote – even in her secret language. Visitors are invited to reflect on how love and gender are interwoven in the Moomin universe and within the broader cultural context of the time. Original illustrations by Jansson, together with the three-dimensional tableaux she created in collaboration with Tuulikki Pietilä and Pentti Eistola, offer a glimpse into a deeply personal creative world. The tour celebrates one of Finland’s most iconic queer and LGBTQIA+ figures through art and storytelling

Pre-registration is not required for the tour, but please inform the museum staff of your participation upon entering the museum. If necessary, we may limit the number of participants. You can also book a private guided tour in different languages at the museum. Read more on the museum's website.
