Moominvallye melodies for piano

The first public performance played by concert pianist Mayu Harada on Friday, 4th November 2016 in Namiki Square, Fukuoka, Japan.

The young promising Japanese concert pianist, Ms Mayu Harada, will play for the first time the “Three Moominvalley melodies for piano”, new music composed by Heikki Mäenpää. In her “Finnish Wind” solo concert Ms Harada will also play music by Jean Sibelius and other classical Finnish and Japanese composers.

Composer & producer Heikki Mäenpää is committed to composing and performing Moomin music. He started in 1989 by composing the musical “Who will comfort Toffle”, and since then he has been making and performing his Moomin-oriented music in Finland and around the world. Mäenpää has composed music for more than 20 plays in 30 years. Mäenpää is currently working in cooperation with Tampere Art Museum and City of Tampere conveying  the message of the world’s only Moomin Museum to Moomin fans in Japan. The new Moomin Museum will be opened in Tampere, Finland in June 2017.
